Google Business Profile
Google's free listing for a business on Maps and Search, with its hours, phone number, location, photos and reviews, managed by the owner.
Also called Business Profile.
A Business Profile lets you manage how your business shows up on Google Maps and Search at no charge (Google Business Profile Help). On it you can:
- give your hours, website, phone number and location, which can be a street address, a service area or a place marker, depending on your business category;
- post photos and videos of your business and what you sell;
- collect and reply to customers’ reviews.
Who can have one
Google says profiles are for businesses that meet customers in person during business hours, such as shops and service businesses that visit customers. Online-only businesses aren’t eligible, and neither are properties for rent or sale. You need a Google Account to sign up.
Google’s main rules
From Google’s guidelines for representing your business:
- Use your real-world business name, as it appears on your signs, website and stationery. Extras such as marketing taglines aren’t allowed in the name.
- Keep your address or service area accurate and precise.
- Choose the fewest categories that describe your core business.
- Have only one profile per business.
- Don’t use the business description for promotions, prices or sales, and don’t put links in it.
To ask customers for reviews, Google gives each profile a review link and QR code. Our Google review QR code maker turns that link into a printable sign on any device and checks the sign against Google’s review rules.
