Product snippet
A Google search result for a product page that adds product details such as ratings, review information, price and availability.
Google calls a product snippet “a text result that includes additional product information such as ratings, review information, price, and availability” (Google Search Central). A page becomes eligible when you add Product structured data to it.
Google’s intro to Product markup sorts product pages into two kinds (Google Search Central). Product snippets are for pages where people can’t buy the product directly, such as an editorial review page, and the markup has more room for review details like pros and cons. Pages where customers buy from you are for merchant listings.
What the markup needs
The Product needs a name and at least one of review, aggregateRating or offers. An editorial review can list pros and cons with positiveNotes and negativeNotes, at least two statements in all.
If you sell the product
Google says the two features overlap: adding the properties merchant listings require usually makes a product page eligible for product snippets as well. Product snippets may also use the price from your Merchant Center feed when the page’s structured data leaves it out. If you sell from the page, start with the merchant listing requirements, and check what your store already outputs in the Rich Results Test before you pay for an app.
