How to choose a content or AI writing tool

Updated Oct 9, 2026.

Check what your platform already writes

Shopify lists Shopify Magic for product descriptions among its built-in features (Shopify App Store), and Amazon’s Enhance My Listing, launched in September 2024 for some US sellers, suggests titles, descriptions and other details for live listings, which you can review, change or decline (About Amazon). Try those before you pay for a separate product description writer.

Fact-check everything a tool writes

Google says generative models “don’t retrieve facts, but predict a likely sequence of words”, so their output “may contain inaccuracies”, and that “It is critical to manually factcheck and review all AI-generated content for accuracy and trustworthiness before publishing” (Google Search Central). On a product page, that means checking every size, material and claim against the product itself.

Be careful with bulk publishing

Google’s spam policies count “Using generative AI tools or other similar tools to generate many pages without adding value for users” as scaled content abuse, and the policy applies “no matter how it’s created” (Google Search Central). A tool’s bulk-publishing button is only as safe as the value each page adds for a reader.

Don’t write to a word count for Google

Among Google’s warning signs of content made for search engines rather than people: “Are you writing to a particular word count because you’ve heard or read that Google has a preferred word count? (No, we don’t.)” (Google Search Central). If an editor tool scores your draft on length, treat the score as a hint, and stop when the reader has what they need.

Label AI product data for Google Shopping

Google says AI-generated product data such as titles and descriptions “must be specified separately and labeled as AI-generated” in Merchant Center, and that AI-generated images must carry IPTC metadata marking them as AI-made (Google Search Central). If a tool writes the product data you send to Google, check it can mark it that way.
